One of the major reasons that people encounter cravings is sleep deprivation. When people do not get at a minimum of 7 hours of sleep (better if it’s even more), their bodies try to demand that it be given more fuel, especially sweets and junky carbohydrates.
Lack of sleep makes hormones and blood sugar out of balance, it lowers metabolism, and causes us to crave sugar.
2. Reduce Stress.
Reducing stress is a great solution for a multitude of problems including curbing sugar cravings.
Stress causes the body to release something called cortisol. Cortisol is supposed to store fat and regulate the body’s blood sugar. The higher the stress, the more the your body thinks it needs simple carbs and refined sugars.
The adrenals are the main hormones responsible for stress controlling the production of DHEA and cortisol. The adrenals are two little triangle-shaped glands located above each of the kidneys.
By treating your adrenals well with stress management, regular exercise, healthy diet, and plenty of sleep, you can avoid making your adrenals work overtime.

5. Eat Plenty of Healthy Fats.
Many of us think fats are taboo and should always be avoided, but this is not the case. Foods with healthy fats, which include avocados, nuts, and coconut oil will help keep your body full.

6. Eliminate Artificial Sweeteners.
There is a big misconception about artificial sweeteners. Many people believe that they are better for you than actual sugar, but this could not be farther from the truth. Artificial sweeteners like aspartame, sucralose, and saccharin are not good for your body. They trick your body into thinking it is getting calories, when in actuality, it is not. This leads to increased cravings for foods like refined sugars and simple carbohydrates.
